Karjvit Rirermvanich
Karjvit is the son of a contractor and the grandson of a mechanic. He obtained his bachelor's degree in architecture with honours from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, and a master's degree from the Design and Make Programme at the AA School of Architecture, Hooke Park and London.
Prior to establishing Physicalist, Karjvit worked at Architects 49 Limited (A49) and Sittanant Co., Ltd., his father’s construction company. He also unprecedentedly won prizes for three consecutive years at the annual International Experimental Design Competition held by the Association of Siamese Architects (ASA). After the 2010 competition, he was appointed head of the film and animation team for the first Thai Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale. In 2013, he was granted the annual Tadao Ando Scholarship in Osaka where he worked at Obayashi Corporation and participated in a curated cultural exchange programme.
From 2021 to 2023, Karjvit also served as the editor of art4d magazine, the longest-running architecture, design, and arts publication in Thailand, where he had been a regular contributor since the early days of his career. He was also on the editorial team of ASA Journal from 2007 to 2009.
Academically, he was a studio tutor in the Advanced Architectural Design Programme at Chulalongkorn University and the Basic Design Programme at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC). He has been invited as a guest speaker and studio critic on numerous occasions at leading architecture schools and international forums across Bangkok.
Karjvit currently lives and works in Talat Noi, Bangkok, where he was born and raised.
